Preparing my E-Portfolio

What fundamentals will be in your e-portfolio?

This is the driving question of my E-portfolio development course that will be the culmination of my 6th year certificate program that I have been working on for the past year. As I pondered the answer to this question, I realize that a large portion of my decision would be based on the intended audience of my final product. I am planning to integrate my learning from this program into a website that I can use in my regular teaching practice. Therefore, my audience will include students, parents, colleagues, and administrators (though anyone is welcome to pay a visit TEACHING TECHNOLOGY)

While the site itself is a testament to much of the learning that I have done over the past year, there are specific elements that I am planning to include in order to highlight the work that I have done, as well as, provide sample material and resources for my audience. While the site is still a work in progress and the organization and layout needs some revision, here are the fundamental elements that I plan to include:

About me/Philosophy Statement – A bit about who I am, what I do, and why I do it.

Relevant contact information – Just in case I’m needed. This is intended for open student and parent contact, however I will happily respond to outside contact as well.

Artifacts relevant to classes I teach (tutorials, lesson plans, etc…) – Over the course of the 6th year program, I have developed several pieces of sample material that relate directly to courses I teach. These will be posted for student access and use in my classes. I also plan to post a majority of the content for my students to this site as it progresses.

Additional school program info – Aside from teaching I am involved in a number of programs at my school which influence how I teach, learn, and interact with my students.

Links to outside resources – There are many great resources available on the web. I am hopeful that I can help students and colleagues access and utilize these resources more regularly.

Feed from my blog – My blog has a great deal of information that I have collected over the past year. I am planning to keep up with it for the forseeable future and I would like to have it available for myself and my audience to access easily.
